Today was a sad day for the Pacatudes herd. Arncia, a prized dam was euthanized after a weeks long illness arising around the same time she gave birth to a little boy. We almost lost her baby since Arnica wasn't producuing enough milk. But another dam, Sabrina delivered a stillborn and quickly "adopted" Arnica's baby. Arnica was a beautiful alpaca and wonderful mom who doted on her babies. We'll miss her.

Last week two crias (babies) joined the Pacatudes herd. The first sired by Pacaatudes herdsire AJ MacDuff was a brown male born on Saturday 4/24/10 and the second sired by fawn Pacatudes herdise Morpheus was a black female born on Tuesday, 4/27/10. We are really excited about about both these fine additions. P. S. the brown male's dam, Arnica had quite a difficult time and she is under close scrutiny by our dear friends Lisa Shimeld and Brad Johnson of Alpacas del Valle Cereza. Now we need to come up with a name for these newcomers.
